Legal.
Privileged stays privileged.
A draft agreement is privileged, commercially sensitive and sometimes both. Sending it to a service that keeps a copy creates a set of documents outside the matter file, outside your retention policy and outside your control.
The documents
- Contracts and agreementsAssembled from clause libraries, with parties and terms filled in.
- Engagement lettersScope, rates and terms, generated per client.
- NDAsHigh volume, low variation, usually fully automated.
- Court filingsStrict formatting: page size, margins, numbered lines, exhibit pages.
- Invoices and billing narrativesTime entries grouped by matter, often with a detailed narrative.
Copies outside the matter file
Document retention in a firm is a policy, applied to systems the firm controls. A vendor's copy of a draft sits outside it: not on the retention schedule, not covered by a litigation hold, not deleted when the matter closes. It is also discoverable. The cleanest answer is for the copy not to exist.
Confidentiality duties
Professional conduct rules require reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorised disclosure of client information, and that extends to the vendors you use. The due diligence question is usually about retention: what is kept, for how long, and who can reach it. Answering none, zero and nobody shortens the conversation considerably.

}Legal: common questions
Do you keep a copy of the contracts we generate?
No. The markup is rendered in memory and released with the response. There is no document archive, so there is nothing to subpoena, nothing to include in a hold and nothing to delete when a matter closes.
Can it meet court formatting rules?
You control the markup and the page options, including size, margins and orientation, so numbered lines, specific margins and exhibit separators are a matter of CSS. Check the output against your local rules before filing.
Can we generate from clause libraries?
Yes. Assemble the document however you already do, then send the finished HTML, or use the contract template with parties, numbered terms and signature blocks as structured data.
What about electronic signatures?
We produce the document. Route it through your e-signature provider for the audit trail and certificate.
Is this suitable for a legal tech product?
It is a common case: your customers' documents never touch our storage, which is a straightforward answer to give in their security review as well as yours.
Other teams using it
- FinanceFinance teams generate invoices, statements and remittance advice without a vendor keeping a copy of customer financial data.
- HealthcareHealth tech teams generate patient summaries, statements and referral letters with PHI held only in memory, never stored, never logged.
- SaaSSaaS teams add PDF export with one backend call instead of running headless Chrome, with nothing stored and no cold starts.
